Courtesy to Community Games 2013 , I was invited to an hour of Floorball introduction session conducted by Ms Jill Quek from
13 Shining Stars, a floorball coaching company, was set up in 2006. They have won numerous awards and have been engaging with various schools, ranging from primary to tertiary level, to conduct these workshops. Not only that, school teams coached by them have also won medals at many school tournaments.
On a personal note, I was actually quite reluctant to join this Floorball session as the location was pretty far for me, nevertheless I'm glad that I made it and enjoyed it very much. I've learned that teamwork and communication are two important components in the court too. Overall, it was a really good experience!
Before playing, Jamie and Jill taught us the basic techniques of playing floorball.
My floorball ball rolled away from me so I had no choice but to get it back.
BUT, hey I'm still listening to what she said :D
Paired up with Jessie to practice.
After learning some basic skills from Jamie, the session was then continued by Jill.
Firstly, the proper way to hold your floorball stick.
2. Do not swing the floorball stick too high.
Waist level is the maximum height.
3. Use the floorball stick to move the ball left and right.
4. Try to move the ball up and down by stepping two steps forward
and two step backwards.
and two step backwards.
After all the basic techniques , we are all ready for a match ~
Grace and me ready to face off
A very intensive match with 4 persons crowding together to snatch 1 ball.
HAHAHA >.<
HAHAHA >.<
With my team members.
As you can see from the picture, we are all sweating like mad as Floorball is really
a fast and dynamic sport.
I managed to score a goal:D **Satisfied
Credits to Eng Hoe and Calvin with the pictures and video taken on that day.
After a fun-filled session, we headed over to Old Airport Food Centre for lunch :D
