Free WI-FI Connection across 28 MRT stations in Singapore starting from mid 2014 is definitely a good news to me. Especially heavy users like me who constantly refresh my social media platform. Not forgetting, those who sign for a new or re-contracting phones which the data plan is dropping to as low as 2GB from a standard 12GB across the board.

The stations comprise of all the North-East Line stations and 12 other major stations with high commuter usage (Jurong East, Raffles Place, City Hall, Dhoby Ghaut, Bishan, Serangoon, Buona Vista, Outram Park, Paya Lebar, Orchard, Choa Chu Kang and HarbourFront ).

These stations comprise all the North-East Line stations and 12 other major stations with high commuter usage. They are Jurong East, Raffles Place, City Hall, Dhoby Ghaut, Bishan, Serangoon, Buona Vista, Outram Park, Paya Lebar, Orchard, Choa Chu Kang and HarbourFront MRT stations. Tenders for the implementation of the Wi-Fi connection, Wireless@SG, will be called on Wednesday. While the commuters are waiting for the train, they can simply connect to Wireless@SG (wireless broadband) to enjoy free wireless broadband access with speeds of up to 2Mbps.
Land Transport Authority (LTA) as part of the Land Transport Master Plan will monitor the trial for 2 years before deciding t extend to other MRT stations.
