Anti:dote located at Fairmont Hotel lobby (short walk from City Hall Station) is a recommended place where you can enjoy a leisurely afternoon tea with your girlfriend or love ones. Together with one of my girlfriends, we decided to try their beautiful high tea sets. This blog will post on their set which is available from 1 - 30 November 2018.
Antidote Restaurant ambiance with romantic lighting.
We started our high tea set with a choice of tea or coffee for each of us. I chose Vanilla Bourbon Tea - South Africa (Red tea blended with sweet TWG Vanilla) while E chose Sweet Romance Tea (Sweet blend decaffeinated black tea with red berries). Overall, both are great but if you are someone who prefers sweet and stronger tea flavour then Sweet Romance Tea might be the one that you are looking. You can also request to add hot water once you are done.
Before the high tea set , we got to choose between two different cooking methods of egg as shown above. The first photo with the plastic egg shell is the slow cooked eggs with crab meat, chives and caviar. The taste is great initially but as you eat to the bottom the egg is pretty salty. As for another appetizer, organic egg with truffle.
Finally, after our appetizer, the friendly staff presented our high tea set in a leather-clad jewellery chest to our table. The food portion that you see is for 2 pax and is non-refillable. Inside this 3 drawers, there are Clotted cream, Lemon curd, Blueberry jam as well as 2 Biscuits on the lower drawer, 2 Scones (maple walnut and vanilla) in the middle drawer, 5 Savories in the top drawer and of course the Desserts (8 different types) on the top of the chest box.
We started off with the middle drawer (maple walnut and vanilla scones), followed by the savories and lastly the sweet. The pairing of lovingly baked scones and spreads are really good!!
Left to right :
- Wild mushroom and mushroom pesto on classic brioche
- Smoked duck, pickled cucumber and foie gras on shallot toast
- Smoked salmon, beetroot cream cheese and ikura roe on pumpernickel --> replaced with tomato and some cut fruits as we informed that we did not want to eat raw food
- House made duck rillette and garlic mustard on rye bread
- Abalone and braised leek on mashed potato tart
House made duck rillette and garlic mustard on rye bread as well as the mashed potato tart are my two favorites from the savories.
