M and I decided to count down 2020 in Taiwan and I also wanted to highlight that the weather is pretty good in both Taichung and Taipei. Due to our last minute booking, we booked Scoot Flight and reached Taoyuan International Airport at around 5:35am on 31.01.2019. The portable wifi was purchased at Klook beforehand which was conveniently pick up at Taoyuan Arrival Hall (24hrs).
After picking up our portable wifi at the airport, we headed straight to Taichung.
MRT from Taoyuan Airport > HSR Taoyuan > HSR Taichung
Take the Airport MRT from Station A12 (Terminal 1) towards A18 (Taoyuan HSR Station) for about 10 minutes (NT$35). You can purchase the tickets at the ticket booth there. As there was a promotion for HSR tickets from KLOOK website , I decided to purchased it and redeemed it at the HSR ticket counter based on the choice of my train timing. You will arrive around 40 minutes from Taoyuan HSR to Taichung. We then took a cab to the hotel to put down our luggage. * The earliest train departs from at around 6:49am, you can check the HSR website for the train timetable.

DAY 1 - TRAVEL TO TAICHUNG FROM TAOYUAN AIRPORT 31.12.2019
Accommodation in Taichung (La Vida Hotel) 台中逢甲商旅
Located in the Feng Chia Business District, we checked into Deluxe Double room which comes with a sofa , work desk, bathtub and comfortable king-size bed. We paid SGD 367.47 for 2 nights with breakfast included. Taxi from Taichung HSR to La Vida hotel cost about NT$305 for 20 minutes and reached hotel at 08:30 am. As we were too early, we decided to sit down at a nearby cafe @ Proteus Coffee for a hot beverage before we proceed on our journey.
Plus point is that it is convenient located near the famous Fengjia Night Market.

11:35 pm - Approx. 10 minutes from the 1st destination, we reached Chui Shui Tang located at 2nd level to eat and drink their bubble tea which claims to be the 1st in Taiwan to make Milk Tea with Pearl.
东坡肉套餐 - NT$280 (highly recommended)
You got to order this and trust me you won't regret it. The Dongpo meat and fat were so tender and will literally be melted in your mouth!!
珍珠奶茶 (Medium) - NT$130
We ordered a medium cup to share and it was great.
招牌豆干 - NT$75
Cooked with more than 10 spices and herbs, the beancurd was smooth and soft.
黄金香酥鸡 - NT$85
The fried chicken is also recommended to order because the meat was flavourful and tender.

#4 Feng Chia Night Market 逢甲夜市
After we checked in the hotel at around 3pm, we took a nap and left the hotel at 06:45 pm to the famous Fengjia Night Market. We had Milk Aroma Garlic Boneless Popcorn Chicken (NT$100) at Massage Chicken store, Cheese Baked Potatoes with other ingredients (NT$80), Oyster Omelette (NT$60), Lu Rou Fan (NT$45) and 2pcs Shrimp meatball (NT$50).

#5 Libao Land 丽宝乐园
Took a cab to experience Taichung countdown cost us about NT$800 which was super expensive due to heavy traffic. Based on the taxi uncle, because of the countdown event, we will need to take a shuttle bus directly to the location and so he dropped off us somewhere after asking a few traffic police of the location. Underestimated the temperature (14 degrees Celsius) on that day and because of the location, we decided to leave at around 10:45 pm.
Over there, they provided 3 - 4 different locations, we then later decided on the location as shown above as we googled that this is the fastest towards our hotel. When we reached the location, we were shocked by looking at an off the road open space car park, we turned to some Taiwanese driver for help and we were fortunate enough to get 2 kind couple to drive us back to Feng Chia District and only offered to take NT$200 from us despite I checked that Uber will be costing us about NT$500.
We were so glad :)
